The National Mechanics Olympiad has been carried out since 1989 by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Mechanics Association and the Vietnam Student Association co-organized. It aims at promoting the study and research of Mechanics subjects, discovering and encouraging young talents in Mechanics, and encouraging the teaching and learning of Mechanics subjects in schools and academies. The event has attracted great attention from generation of students from universities and colleges across the country. The number of schools, teams, and participants is increasing. This is a specialized Olympic Games with a national character from the beginning, held annually, conducted in accordance with the Regulations and the awarding process strictly.
The 33rd National Mechanics Olympiad took place on May 7, 2023 at three locations:
North: Military Technical Academy (236 Hoang Quoc Viet, Hanoi);
Central region: University of Technology, University of Danang (54 Nguyen Luong Bang, Da Nang City);
South: Vinh Long Technical Pedagogical University (73 Nguyen Hue, Vinh Long City).
The competition content includes 7 traditional subjects: Technical Mechanics; Strength of materials; Structural mechanics; Hydraulic; Soil mechanics; The principle of machine; Machine details and 5 subjects applying informatics in Mechanics.
The total number of contestants was 1,199 students from 36 universities, institutions, and training institutes in engineering and technology across the country. The exam was held strictly according to regulations.
On May 13 and 14, 2023, at the Military Technical Academy, the jury consisting of 120 teachers, mechanics, and top mechanics was very enthusiastic, fair, and selected individual and team prizes.
The Hanoi University of Civil Engineering team participating in this year's contest achieved the following results:

First Prize in Soil Mechanics
First Prize in Structural Mechanics
Second Prize in AI for material sustainability
Third Prize in Engineering Mechanics
Third Prize in Material sustainability
And many individual prizes such as 1st and 2nd prizes in Soil Mechanics, 2nd prize in Structural Mechanics, 2nd prize in Material sustainability, 3rd prize in Mechanical engineering, 3ed prize in Hydraulics and so on. Among them are teams with high achievement such as the Soil Mechanics team with 15 participants and 15 winners: 2 first prizes, 6 second prizes and 7 third prizes (details of prizes can be found in the link attached at the end of the article).

With the results obtained in this contest, the Mechanics Olympiad team of HUCE keeps proving to be one of the strong teams maintaining the tradition of achieving high results in National Mechanics Olympiad.
